This is my second time eating here. It was a completely different place. It was full but no one even acknowledged that we were waiting. The entire staff seemed overwhelmed. And interestedly enough the staff was completely different from last time. The food is good though. I am puzzled how to review.

Great little local diner. Friendly and receptive staff. Fast service. Fresh bagels, tasty sandwiches, and it's a perfect way to start a morning.

Overpriced for small portions, breakfast you can prepare better at home. Menu is limited. I ordered the egg bread blueberry french toast with 2 strips of bacon. What I got was 2 pieces of egg bread toasted with few fresh blueberries tossed over the top, Mrs. Butterworth maple syrup. Price: $8.00! Over priced & small portions! We sat in a booth, the booth's cushioned seat was broken & easily slided. Waitress had speech problem, I had to ask her to repeat what she was saying. Your toast, bread, comes pre-buttered so it is "soggy" when it is placed on table. I'd rather butter my toast myself. My french toast was "soggy." They serve only fresh eggs, no "eggsbeaters." This is OK if you can eat fresh eggs. Waitress was "rude," she removed family member's plates & I hadn't finished my meal yet. It may seem efficient for a waitress to remove empty plates from the table, even if one person hasn't finished their meal, but its ploy to make slow eater hurry up so table can be available to next patrons waiting for available table? I'm saving my $ & going to Crackerbarrel Restaurant in Winter Garden where I get a better value in a full breakfast for my money. Crackerbarrel serves "Eggsbeaters."

Small portions, excellent service, great food, pretty expensive. I've got to say that when the manager/owner checks up on you 4 times during your stay - you've got somebody who cares about you. I did like the food, had an Eggs Benedict and a bowl of grits (which I thought would have filled me up) and afterwards ordered a perfect pancake with blueberries in it - wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. This is definitely a place you want to visit on payday when you have extra money to blow - or if you can afford to drop $20 on the above said for a Sunday breakfast. Rated 4 stars based on everything - would have been 5 had it not been so expensive. Talk Fusion

Super friendly staff which is very warm and welcoming. Pretty standard menu and not too pricey. Went with my family and we all had something different. I went for the short stack blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon. My wife had the Triple decker sandwich with fries and my daughter had the Philly cheesesteak sandwich with fries. All the food came out fast and looking delicious. Unfortunately, looks don't always translate to good tasting. My pancakes were the opposite of thick and fluffy with bursting blueberry flavor. They were thin and just meh. On a good note my wife's Triple decker sandwich was very tasty and full of flavor. Especially the turkey. It wasn't dry. Very juicy and full of flavor. I didn't have any of my kid's Philly or the fries. Overall I don't see a need to return back to the Avalon Diner over going to Cracker Barrel.

I enjoyed my first visit to the Avalon Diner so much that I decided to try it again...with disappointing results. When we arrived the restaurant was packed. We walked in and waited a good minute without anyone acknowledging us. Then a waitress walked by--not to greet us but to ask us to move so that she could get out of the front door to tend to the outdoor tables. After five minutes of standing at the door, someone came and asked us how many were in our party. They still didn't greet us. We got our drinks quickly, and our waitress was nice. Even the manager (a different one from our precious visit) stopped by a couple times to check on us and help out. The waitress was unfamiliar with the menu. We asked about the special listed on the sign outside--a ribeye and fried eggs. She said no one had told her about it, and when she left to ask she failed to find out the cost. She said it would probably be between a price range. The food was good once again, but they mixed up the sides on our orders and shorted us a side, which we only discovered late.

My husband and I had breakfast at this little diner when we drove by and noticed it one morning. The staff was friendly. The menu options were plentiful. I had a vegetable omelet, which was delicious. The prices were fair. I would definitely go back again.

Took my wheelchair bound mother for breakfast today for our first visit to Avalon Diner. There was Handicap Parking and easy access. This is a fairly new building. Being Mother's Day it was quite crowded. We were greeted by the owner within a minute of arrival. We waited about 10 minutes for a table. Although we had a very small round table, we were comfortable. We received immediate attention once we were seated, got our drinks, ordered and received our beautifully presented food in about 10 minutes. The service and attention to our needs was excellent, courteous, and friendly. My Country Scramble with Sausage Gravy was excellent. Mom agreed that her Challah Bread French Toast was also excellent. We enjoyed our visit very much and will return. Sunday hours are 8:00AM - 2:00PM.

Great place for breakfast! My boyfriend and I both got the country scramble and it was delicious. I added a pancake and it was FABULOUS! Met/exceeded expectations of a diner. we'll be returning!

From the owner opening the door for us when we walked in to everyone whether they were our waiter or not telling us to have a great day this place was awesome! and for any of you northerners out there you'd be pleased to know you can get a porkroll egg and cheese sandwich here! wahoo great service great everything.

Stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning. We had the eggs benedict and the challah bread french toast. We sat outside so I can't comment on the decor but the service was friendly and when we did have a problem they resolved it quickly and without any further issues. Prices were fair and when looking a the lunch/dinner options we will certainly be back soon.

Near Stoney Brook West subdivision. I would have never found this little jewel without Yelp. Great NY style breakfast spot with good bagels, breakfast of all kinds, pies & brownies. Service is fast, efficient and friendly. Prices a little high but worth it for the quality of food and service and being non-chain.

We are regulars here on the weekends. It's definitely the best breakfast spot in town. The food is great and something about their coffee is on point. The service is always great and the owners are very friendly and welcoming. If you're like me and choose family owned businesses over chains, this place is for you.

NY Bagels are terrific....the owners are friendly as is the help. It's the Cheers of the South....where everybody knows your name! I hesitated to write this because it's not crowded right now, but as soon as everyone find out about it, there will be long lines for breakfast and lunch. We wish they had dinner. Check out their pumpkin pancakes that should be starting in September! Their soups are home made as are all the desserts! We eat their at least once a week.

Great place for breakfast. The food was delicious. The meals were delivered quickly. The service was good at the beginning but our waitress never came back to refill my husband's coffee.

The atmosphere of this diner is perfect! I love the homey feel of the establishment and the fact that they are in no rush to get customers in and out. Instead, they make you feel at home throughput the entire visit. We have had a large group go there throughout the summer after Saturday morning runs, and they are super accommodating to all of us. The food is as excellent as the service. I have had various menu items and have not been disappointed at all. The NY bagels are actually of the quality I've had while in NY, so I was pleasantly surprised. This is a great find and I highly recommend!

I have visited this place a few times and have always had a good experience. The staff is friendly and the food is served quickly and the quality is good. All the things you would expect from a diner you get here. The one downfall (if you call it that) is the prices are quite high for what you get. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but it's just a bit overpriced.

Clean, friendly staff, and fast service. The food is average and so are the prices. It's small inside but plenty of parking.

Classic American Breakfast spot. This diner in Winter Garden is a great lil spot. This review is for their breakfast. Went one Sunday morning. The options are classic choices with a decent variety. Ordered a breakfast platter that included two eggs, bacon or sausage, and 2 pancakes. The sausage patties looked a lil skimpy but really weren't. Just the way they looked I guess. The pancakes were huge and fluffy. The service was also pretty good. Unlimited coffee kept on coming. I don't think my glass ever got empty. Prices were good too, almost all breakfast item were easily under $10. WIll definitely go back for breakfast and possibly lunch some time soon.

Great Mom & Pop joint. Good variety of choices on the menu, and really good prices. The place isn't too big, so it has very quaint and comfortable feel. Check it out if you get a chance!

My roommate and I dropped into the Avalon Diner one Sunday morning and we were delighted! They offer the "classics" in breakfast diner food - pancakes, eggs, bacon, etc. The food is typical diner goodness and sort of feels like mom was right there in the kitchen cooking away for the family. The service was very welcoming. It's comforting to know that places like this still exist. We'll definitely return!

i feel compelled to support a buisness like the Avalon Diner. they are that mom and pop feeling, hot and fresh food, early in the day and with a side dish of local howdy do. i couldn't find any hours online anywhere so let me help you and them and tell you 7am - 2pm and only have dinner Friday night for a few hours. Sundays 8am- 2pm . IMHO i'm surprised they don't open at 6am cause high school starts at 7am but i would also have a big flashing neon DINER sign....? i'll try and post a pic of the menu cause they are woefully not present online, yet. i love grabbing a egg, cheese and bacon bagel when i'm busy. hot and made to be easy to eat. o and i so love a place that can make a good sandwich- i love the turkey melt, better than a Super Bird. perfect amount of meat again makes it easy to eat but more than enough to fill. those delis that pile on so much meat you have to gasp are more flash than function to me-i can't eat that and still draw breath, too big. like 8$ i average for a breakfast and like 12$ for a good lunch, fries and drinks all that. keep this place in business, you'll probably meet the owner, the staff cares and it helps the food. Winter Garden just keeps getting better.

I hit this joint once a week and have to say they are the first to make biscuits and sausage gravy like grandma used to make!!! Friendly staff who know you when you come in and overall consistently great food. You have to also try the home fries.

Delicious! We went here for lunch to escape the hotel food from a nearby conference. I got a traditional bacon/eggs/toast breakfast and it did not disappoint. I also highly recommend the hashbrowns at Avalon Diner as so many other restaurants get those wrong. Next time I will be sure to try something from the dessert case. Thanks so much Mike!

The food is decent, but the reason I only gave it two stars is because their portions are ridiculously small. Twice I have ordered take out breakfast and both times portions were ridiculous. The home fries and hash browns aren't enough to feed a child. The side order of bacon gets you two strips of bacon, same as the sausage. The toast and muffin were almost burnt both times and barley had butter on them. Each omelette meal is about $9, plus bacon/ sausage $3, for two meal comes out to $23, but for the price portions seem very cheap. Will not order again.

I refer to this shopping center as a Restaurant Graveyard - few things seem to last here (Anyone remember Yabi? Gandolfo's? WOW FIKA!?); however, Avalon Diner has lasted for quite some time, and for that I'm glad. The employees are very friendly, they are happy to make substitutes, and the food is delicious. The menu isn't a very creative one, but that's okay - they have classic comfort food, and it is very tasty! Eager to go back and try it again!

Some friends and I ventured to Avalon Diner today for lunch. We've been there before and enjoyed the food. The service, however, is a little lacking. Our server was nice but we did have some slight issues. Before ordering, I had mentioned to a friend that I was pretty sure that the chicken salad had egg in it. She said she would ask because she hates egg. She asked our server and he replied "Ummm. No, I don't think so." If you don't know, you should find out. Sure enough, when we got the chicken salad, there was egg in it. Honestly, she didn't even notice, but if she had been asking because of an allergy, he could have been in trouble. Several of the girls ordered side salads to come out before the main entrée. One of the girl's salads didn't come out with the rest. Our server said he would be back with it. We had to remind him several times and it still didn't come out until the main entrees were served (it was a basic house salad). When he brought out the entrees, he couldn't remember who had what and was bringing the wrong things to the wrong people (easy enough to switch around, but considering he was writing our orders down, he should have been able to figure it out). I had asked for ranch dressing to come out with my fries. It didn't so I asked for some again, as did one of the other girls. He brought some out to her, but not me, so I had to ask again. Overall, we will be back because the food is yummy and close by. Hopefully the service will be better next time.

Went for breakfast and will be back again. Traditional breakfast menu, not too big and not too small. Breakfast specials were offered as well. Place was clean and service was prompt and friendly. Home fries were yummy...real home fries, hand cut - not those processed cubes you find most places nowadays. That was a huge plus for me. Bacon was nice and thick. Eggs cooked to order. Sausage and biscuits were good, too. Going to visit them for breakfast again and definitely check them out for Fish & Chips one of these Friday nights.

Tried this place on a recent vacation to FL. Food was decent but not good enough for a return trip. The country scrambler (b&g in particular) was rather bland, but the pumpkin pancakes were tasty. Our server refused to substitute a side item that was identical in price, and the table was cluttered with syrup and other items.

Excellent food. Excellent service. We tried Friday night dinner. Was awesome. Price was great for the amount of food. I will go back again and again.

I went back due to K J.'s review and recommendation for the biscuits and gravy. The B&G were actually good; a little oversalted but at least had a lot of flavor. They're redoing their menu and we were told several times as we tried to order "We don't have that anymore, the new menu will be out soon." This was kind of irritating. The lowered star is due to the sweet side of their menu. I already wrote that I didn't care for their syrup and their pancakes were nothing special. My wife ordered french toast with strawberries, and they were gross. The strawberries had started turning grey and were mushy because of the length of time they sat in the strawberry syrup. My wife mentioned it when someone came by to ask how it was and he was polite and apologetic, and said that happens because of the syrup but it helps the strawberries keep longer. Fruit rotting is nature's way of telling you to not serve them; prolonging them and reducing the quality of the fruit because of preserving them, especially at a diner like this, is a bad idea. I want fresh fruit and I want to be able to order the items on your menu. New menu coming? Great! Serve the stuff on your existing menu until the new one is out, though.

Nice breakfast. The biscuits and gravy were very good. It's a great neighborhood breakfast place. We even took dessert home for later because it looked so good (and was). We will be back to try lunch and dinner!

So now the owner is denying that we were physically threatened by one of his "very important customers". Also permitting his customers to say foul things to a 2 year old is also presumed permissible by his actions. In addition inappropriate behavior by the owner by yelling at his customers and being unprofessional is supported as he has done so himself. I feel for his servers, they actually apologized for his behavior and seemed extremely uncomfortable around him. As stated before " his good ol boy" attitude will take him far, far away from paying customers.
